I'm on a cross country road trip coast to coast so it's just begun and I am so damn satisfied with whistling' jack lodge it ain't even funny!!!!
Amazing staff! Incredible vibe! One of a kind stop and rest and refuel your body it's worth it in every way. Phenomenal food cooked to perfection. Perfect drinks poured not exactly heavy hand but enough to taste the alcohol with the Mixers! That's the one thing bars screw u on is giving u juice and it's a drip of alcohol!!!! But not here; They're honest, they're fun. They have karaoke and a great community of regulars Fall in love with hole in the walls/middle of nowhere bars and this just shot to the top of my list!! You must stop in as you head towards Chrystal mountain do t miss out! -

Haven't been to this place in years; decided to go out of our way to stop in and was highly disappointed. The food was overcooked and over priced. We had to ask the server multiple times for a high chair for our son and had to ask twice for a drink for our son and when we got the drink for our 18month old son; it was a large size glass -not even child size. He was clearly distracted and not using proper judgement. We won't be returning here again.

Have not been here in 15 years. The restaurant has a great view of the river. The ambiance definitely needs to be improved. We ordered from the dinner menu which comes with a trip through the salad bar. We had to ask for salad as the bowl was empty. I had the trout which was ok. The presentation needs improvement. The server was forgetful. The table next to us ordered chicken fried steak and the server brought fish and chips. It wasn't a bad experience but not a good one. This isn't the place I remember and won't be back.

All the food comes from a can. I ordered the turkey open faced sandwich. The turkey was from a can. The potatoes were instant potatoes. The steamed vegetables were cooked with rotten spots still on them. Why are these people still in business?
The people working there didn't want to wait on you. They tried to avoid the customers. -

First-time guest here. Not a "luxury" kind of girl; I like quirky motels, old things and lodges. As a general rule, if you can't get enough sleep after a long drive and a hike, you have chosen your lodgings poorly. Here, I'm kind of on the fence.
I wanted to love this place-- charming grounds, nice staff, cool lobby... but this place is useless as a getaway. Lodge rooms have no curtains for the giant bay windows, which means you must wake up at the crack of dawn (5a in summer)! They kindly covered the window with paper for our second night-- a nice gesture. Hard pillows, noisy beds, but lots of vintage charm. Coffeemaker hasn't been cleaned in some time. I was a little afraid to try the food in the dining room after reading dozens of negative reviews, but breakfast (8 to noon) was actually fantastic. I had the spiral ham breakfast and my husband had an omelet; we both felt satisfyingly stuffed and taken care of.
